Description
The INA3221 ICIntegrated Circuit is a three-channel, high-side current and bus voltage monitor with an I2CInter-Integrated Circuit. Also referred to as IIC or I2C. interface. It can sense current on buses that can vary from 0V to 26V. The INA3221 monitors both shunt voltage drops and bus supply voltages, in addition to having programmable conversion times and averaging modes for these signals. This IC also features alerts to detect multiple programmable out of range conditions for each channel.
Generic breakout boards for the INA3221 are available that usually have 0.1Ω 1% shunt resistors across each of the 3 channels that can measure up to 1.6A on each channel. The bus voltage is measured across the VIN1+/VIN2+/VIN3+ and GND pins with a range of 0V to 26V DC. These boards operate from a single 2.7V to 5.5V power supply. More details about the board, including the board layout with pin descriptions, can be found in the Power Sensors article.
