Intro

This privacy policy describes how Data Capture Control manages browser cookies and your Personally identifiable information (PIIPersonally Identifiable Information). Please read our privacy policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect, or otherwise handle your information.

Cookies

Browser cookies are text data created by a web server while a user is browsing a website and placed on the user's computer or other device by the user's web browser. Data Capture Control only sets session cookies that allow you to stay logged into the site as you browse it.

The session cookies that Data Capture Control uses are sent encrypted and are HTTP-only to protected against Cross-Site Scripting (XSSCross-Site Scripting). Browsers hide HTTP-only cookies from JavaScript, so an attacker's injected JavaScript will not be able to access them.

Personal Information

Personally identifiable information (PIIPersonally Identifiable Information), as used in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context.

Data Capture Control does not collect personal information unless you register for an account on the site to participate in discussions. When you register for an account, you will be required to provide a login name and display name of your choice. You do not have to use your real name for either the login name or display name if you want to keep your identity concealed. A valid email address is also required to register an account. Your email address is used to reduce spam on the site and to communicate with you outside of the comment sections (e.g., updates to the site, responding to inquires or requests, technical issues, if you're violating the terms of usage, etc.).

Data Capture Control does not sell, rent, trade, or transfer your personally identifiable information to third parties. However, we may disclose personally identifiable information if legally required to do so by law.
