Description

The SAMD51 microcontroller is available in different types of boards from SparkFun and Adafruit, including prototyping boards, small footprint boards, and boards with a JSTJapan Solderless Terminal connector for a 4.2V/3.7V LiPoLithium Polymer/Li-ionLithium-ion battery.

The SAMD51 is a 32-bit 120MHz ARM Cortex-M4F microcontroller from Microchip. It has different RAMRandom Access Memory and Flash memory size options, such as 128/192/256KB SRAMStatic Random Access Memory and 256KB/512KB/1MB Flash memory. When purchasing a SAMD51 board, make sure to check the product details to determine if the amount RAM and Flash memory are sufficient for your needs.

The I/OInput/Output consists of GPIOGeneral Purpose Input Output with PWMPulse-Width Modulation, 12-Bit ADCAnalog-to-Digital Converter (ADC, A/D, or A-to-D), and 12-Bit DACDigital-to-Analog Converter (DAC, D/A, or D-to-A). There are also many communication interfaces, such as UARTUniversal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter, I2CInter-Integrated Circuit. Also referred to as IIC or I²C., SPISerial Peripheral Interface, I2SInter-IC Sound, SMBusSystem Management Bus, PMBusPower Management Bus, LINLocal Interconnect Network, and CANController Area Network (CAN) is a high-integrity serial communication bus designed for harsh environments such as industrial and automotive applications.. Like the SAMD21, the SAMD51 has SERCOM (SERial COMmunication) modules where a set of 6 configurable serial interfaces can be turned into either a UART, I2C master, I2C slave, SPI master, or SPI slave.
