Description
The Adafruit ItsyBitsy 32U4 5V 16MHz microcontroller board has the ATmega32U4 MCUMicrocontroller Unit broken out in a small form factor (1.4in x 0.7in) to fit inside an enclosure. The ATmega32U4 chip has a built-in USB controller where the board has a Micro-B USB connector for both power and programming.
- Processor
- The ItsyBitsy has an 8-bit 16MHz AVRAVR microcontrollers derives its name from its developers and stands for, Alf-Egil Bogen and Vegard Wollan RISC microcontroller, and is also known as Advanced Virtual RISC. ATmega328P processor with Advanced RISCReduced Instruction Set Computer architecture. The default clock speed is 16MHz, but it can go up to a maximum speed of 20MHz.
- Memory
-
- 28KB Flash
- 1KB EEPROMElectrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory
- 2KB SRAMStatic Random Access Memory
- I/OInput/Output
-
- 1x USB Micro-B connector (USB 2.0 Full/Low speed)
- 10x Digital I/OInput/Output with 4x PWMPulse-Width Modulation (5V Logic)
- 6x analog pins 10-bit ADCAnalog-to-Digital Converter (ADC, A/D, or A-to-D) (0V to 5V range)
- Communication Interfaces (5V Logic): 1x UARTUniversal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter, 1x I2CInter-Integrated Circuit. Also referred to as IIC or I2C., and 1x SPISerial Peripheral Interface
- User Interface
-
- 1x Reset Button
- 1x User Red LED connected to Pin #13
- Power
-
The board can be powered with either USB or external source (such as a battery) into BAT pin - it will
automatically switch over. The board has a 5.0V power regulator with 150mA output capability,
ultra-low dropout, up to 16V input, reverse-polarity
protection, with thermal and current-limit protection. There are 3 power pins on the
board: BAT, USB, and GND.
- BAT is the battery input (5.5V-16V DC) for an alternative power source to USB.
- USB is the same pin as the Micro-B USB connector's 5V USB power pin. This should be used as an output to get 5V power from the USB port.
- GND is the common/ground/0V reference.
- Board Size
- 35.0mm x 18.0mm (1.4in x 0.7in)
