Description
Vibration switch sensors detect repetitive mechanical motion and output a digital alarm signal. They contain a switch contact that is normally open and will close if the sensor vibrates in the designed frequency and amplitude range.
The vibration switch sensors provided below are of the pin and spring type. Inside the sensor is a thin pin in the center of small coil spring that has one end attached to the base and the other end is free to move. Vibration causes the spring to touch the pin and complete the circuit between the two leads of the sensor. The spring's contact with the pin occurs briefly, so a latching circuit is needed to stabilize the detection output signal. Most modules have an LM393 comparator IC for this purpose with an onboard potentiometer that allows you to manually adjust the sensitivity.
