The MPU-6050 MEMSMicro-Electro-Mechanical Systems is a technology that combines electronic and moving parts in microscopic devices.ICIntegrated Circuit consists of two sensors, one is a
3-axis accelerometer (x, y, z) and the other is a
3-axis gyroscope (yaw, pitch, roll), making it a
6DOF6 Degrees of FreedomIMUInertial Measurement Unit . It can measure acceleration and rotation along all three axes, where
the data is output through a digital I2CInter-Integrated Circuit. Also referred to as IIC or I2C. interface.
Acceleration can be measured over four programmable full scale ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g. The gyroscope
can measure angular rotation over four programmable full scale ranges of
±250°/s,
±500°/s,
±1000°/s, and
±2000°/s.
The MPU-6050 has three 16-bitADCAnalog-to-Digital Converter (ADC, A/D, or A-to-D)s that
simultaneously sample the acceleration along the three axes of movement and three more
16-bit ADCs that simultaneously sample the three axes of rotation. The sampling
rate can be adjusted from 4SPSSamples Per Second to 8000SPSSamples Per Second.
MPU-6050 modules often include an on-board 3.3V regulator, so you can use it with a 5V
logic microcontroller. The MPU-6050 IC has low power consumption, less than 3.6mA
during measurements and only 5μA when idle, so it can be used in battery applications.
