Description

The Gas sensors provided below are Air Quality sensors that can measure dust, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

Air quality sensors include the SGP30, SGP40, CCS811, and ENS160. The SGP30 outputs the Total Volatile Organic Compound (TVOC) reading and an equivalent Carbon Dioxide reading (eCO2) over I2CInter-Integrated Circuit. Also referred to as IIC or I²C.. The SGP40 is the next generation after the SGP30, but rather than giving TVOC/eCO2 values out like the SGP30, it provides the raw signal from the sensor is processed using their software algorithm to give an overall air quality value from 0 to 500. The CCS811 provides readings for equivalent eCO2 in the parts per million (PPM) and TVOC in the parts per billion (PPB). The ENS160 is the replacement for the CCS811, with multiple IAQIndex for Air Quality outputs (TVOC, eCO2, AQI).

Dust and Particulate Matter sensors detect very fine particles in air and are commonly used in air purifiers. They use laser scattering to radiate suspending particles in the air and collect the scattered light to obtain the light change with time. Some even have a microprocessor that calculates the particle concentration.
