Description

The HM-10 Bluetooth module is two way (full-duplex) wireless transceiver that can send/receive small amounts of data over short distances (up to 100 meters or 328 feet). Small amounts of data include short messages, logging sensor measurements, or commands for controlling things, but it cannot handle large data rates for streaming audio or video.

This module uses Bluetooth version 4.0 BLEBluetooth Low Energy, compatible with most computers and smartphones. It can operate in either Master or Slave mode: in Slave mode it waits for another Bluetooth device to initiate a connection, whereas in Master mode it actively searches for other Bluetooth devices to initiate a connection with.

The HM-10 module has a UARTUniversal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter interface with (RXReceive, TXTransmit) pins that can be controlled or configured by connecting it to a USB Serial Adapter or microcontroller board for data communication using ATShort text string commands where the AT stands for ATtention and every command line starts with "AT" or "at". commands. There are two modes of operation: AT mode and Data mode. In AT mode you can configure the settings of the HM-10 module (name, baud rate, PIN code, etc.). In data mode, the HM-10 can send wireless data and by reading from the UART port or receives wireless data and writes it to the UART port.

The board has a 3.3V LDOLow Dropout Regulator regulator and can be powered using a +3.6V to +6V DC supply voltage on the VCCVoltage Collector Collector (VCC) is the supply voltage at the collector of a transistor. The double subscript notation of repeating letters "CC" is used to denote a power supply voltage that is relative to ground. and GNDCommon Ground pins. However, with different versions of the board on the market, the voltage levels of the communication and control lines (RX, TX, State, and EN pins) may only allow 3.3V or be 3.3V/5V tolerant. You have to check the product description to of the seller to determine if you need to add external level shifting circuitry when using a 5V device or whether the HM-10 has level shifting built into the board.
